Sejarah Perkembangan Windows

Bagi anda yang saat ini tengah membaca tulisan ini tentu tidak asing dengan yang namanya windows. Ya, windows adalah operating system buatan microsoft yang didirikan oleh Om Bill Gates,Om saya... hehehe... (Bercanda..) :)

Ibarat kata pepatah Tak kenal maka tak sayang, maka ada baiknya rekan-rekan mengetahui jejak sejarah dan perkembangan dari operating system buatannya om bill gates ini.

Windows 1.0

Versi pertama Microsoft Windows, yang disebut dengan Windows 1.0, dirilis pada tanggal 20 November 1985. Versi ini memiliki banyak kekurangan dalam beberapa fungsionalitas, sehingga kurang populer di pasaran.
Windows 2.x

Windows versi 2 pun muncul kemudian pada tanggal 9 Desember 1987, dan menjadi sedikit lebih populer dibandingkan dengan pendahulunya. Sebagian besar populeritasnya didapat karena kedekatannya dengan aplikasi grafis buatan Microsoft,Microsoft Excel for Windows dan Microsoft Word for Windows.
Windows 3.0

Microsoft Windows akhirnya mencapai kesuksesan yang sangat signifikan saat menginjak versi 3.0 yang dirilis pada tahun 1990. Selain menawarkan peningkatan kemampuan terhadap aplikasi Windows, Windows 3.0 juga mampu mengizinkan pengguna untuk menjalankan beberapa aplikasi MS-DOS secara serentak (multitasking), karena memang pada versi ini telah diperkenalkan Memory virtual.

Windows 95

Windows yang lebih unggul pada user interface dan multitasking. Windows 95 merupakan windows yang dianggap revolusioner dan membawa era baru komputasi. Rilis 24 Agustus 1995.

Windows 98

Dirilis pada tanggal 25 Juni 1998, Windows 98 yang pertama merupakan windows yang sangat buruk. Lemot, sering crash dan berbagai masalah lainnya. Perubahan kernel dan perombakan sistem secara keseluruhan membuat penjualannya meningkat karena cepat, dan tidak lagi crash ( malah merupakan windows paling stabil yang pernah ada ) dengan rilis nya Windows 98SE pada tahun 1999

Windows ME

Mengisi kekosongan antara dirilisnya windows 98SE dan XP, di lahirkanlah windows ME. Konsep konsep baru diperkenalkan dengan Windows ME. 1 diantara konsep yang kemudian populer di suatu hari ada “plug and play”. Sayangnya GUI yang buruk dan terlalu geeky membuat nya tidak populer.

Windows 2000

Microsoft merilis Windows 2000 pada 17 Februari 2000, sebuah versi yang sebelumnya dikenal dengan sebutan Windows NT 5.0 atau “NT 5.0″. Versi Windows 2000 ditujukan untuk dua pangsa pasar, yakni pangsa pasar workstation dan juga pangsa pasar server.

Windows XP

Oktober 2001, microsoft merilis Windows XP, versi windows yang paling banyak di pakai di seluruh dunia sampai sekarang, banyak mendapatkan pujian di seluruh pemberitaan. Review score yang baik membuat windows XP merajai pasar PC sekarang ini. Windows XP yang pertama kali memecah bagian penjualan windows menjadi Home dan Professional. Hanya membedakan beberapa fitur yang mungkin tidak digunakan oleh pengguna rumahan dibanding pengguna professional.
Windows Vista

Vista membawa perubahan besar dalam kernel, GUI dan rangkaian penambahan fitur yang menjanjikan. Sayang biarpun sudah mengalami penambahan fitur dan User Interface, Vista tidak sukses di pasar karena memiliki beberapa flaw yang sangat mengganggu, terutama bagi kritikus. Vista juga lambat dan tidak lebih baik dari windows XP dalam penggunaan sehari hari.

Windows 7

Rilis selanjutnya setelah Windows Vista dikenal sebagai Windows 7, yang sebelumnya dikenal dengan sebutan Blackcomb dan Vienna. Windows ini memiliki kennel NT versi 6.2 SP2 dari Windows Server 2008. Windows 7 memiliki keamanan dan fitur yang baru. Windows 7 adalah jenis dari Windows Server 2008 SP2. Windows ini dirilis pada tanggal 22 Oktober 2009. Fitur yang ada di Windows 7 60% sama dengan Windows Vista. Beberapa fiturnya adalah: Jump List, Taskbar yang membuka program dengan tampilan kecil, Windows Media Player 12, Internet Explorer 8, dan lain-lain. Perkembangan Prosesor Intel dari dulu sampai sekarang...

Ide tentang komputer berawal dari ide penyimpanan memory elektronik pertama menghasilkan rancangan yang belum rampung dengan nama ENIAC yang di desain oleh J. Presper Eckert dan John William Mauchly tetapi keberadaanya kemudian diabaikan karena tidak berhasil diselesaikan. Pada tanggal 30 Juni 1945 ahli matematika John von Neumann memaparkan makalahnya untuk menciptakan electronik memory pertama dengan nama EDVAC yang rencananya diselesaikan pada tahun 1949. Rancangan EDVAC inilah yang kemudian menjadi dasar dalam pengembangan dunia komputer modern walaupun pada saat itu sebuah komputer itu seukuran rumah.

Biaya yang mahal untuk menciptakan sebuah komputer, memaksa para ilmuwan untuk menciptakan processor yang lebih kecil. Berikut adalah sejarah Microprocessor:

1. Microprocessor 4004 (1971)
Processor di awali pada tahun 1971 dimana intel mengeluarkan processor pertamanya yang di pakai pada mesin penghitung buscom. Ini adalah penemuan yang memulai memasukan system cerdas kedalam mesin. Processor ini dinamakan microprocessor 4004. Chip intel 4004 ini mengawali perkembangan CPU dengan mempelopori peletakan seluruh komponen mesin hitung dalam satu IC. Pada saat ini IC mengerjakan satu tugas saja.

2. Microprocessor 8008 (1972)
Pada tahun 1972 intel mengeluarkan microprocessor 8008 yang berkecepatan hitung 2 kali lipat dari MP sebelumnya. MP ini adalah mp 8 bit pertama. Mp ini juga di desain untuk mengerjakan satu pekerjaan saja.

3. Microprocessor 8080 (1974)
Pada tahun 1974 intel kembali mengeluarkan mp terbaru dengan seri 8080. Pada seri ini intel melakukan perubahan dari mp multivoltage menjadi triple voltage, teknologi yang di pakai NMOS, lebih cepat dari seri sebelumnya yang memakai teknologi PMOS. Mp ini adalah otak pertama bagi komputer yang bernama altair.Pada saat ini pengalamatan memory sudah sampai 64 kilobyte. Kecepatanya sampai 10X mp sebelumnya.
Tahun ini juga muncul mp dari produsen lain seperti MC6800 dari Motorola -1974, Z80 dari Zilog -1976 (merupakan dua rival berat), dan prosessor2 lain seri 6500 buatan MOST, Rockwell, Hyundai, WDC, NCR dst.

GENERASI 1 (Processor 8088 dan 8086)
Processor 8086 (1978) merupakan CPU 16 bit pertama Intel yang menggunakan bus sistem 16 bit. Tetapi perangkat keras 16 bit seperti motherboard saat itu terlalu mahal, dimana komputer mikro 8 bit merupakan standart. Pada 1979 Intel merancang ulang CPU sehingga sesuai dengan perangkat keras 8 bit yang ada. PC pertama (1981) mempunyai CPU 8088 ini. 8088 merupakan CPU 16 bit, tetapi hanya secara internal. Lebar bus data eksternal hanya 8 bit yang memberi kompatibelan dengan perangkat keras yang ada.

GENERASI 2 Processor 80286
286 (1982) juga merupakan prosessor 16 bit. Prosessor ini mempunyai kemajuan yang relatif besar dibanding chip-chip generasi pertama. Frekuensi clock ditingkatkan, tetapi perbaikan yang utama ialah optimasi penanganan perintah. 286 menghasilkan kerja lebih banyak tiap tik clock daripada 8088/8086. Pada kecepatan awal (6 MHz) berunjuk kerja empat kali lebih baik dari 8086 pada 4.77 MHz. Belakangan diperkenalkan dengan kecepatan clock 8,10,dan 12 MHz yang digunakan pada IBM PC-AT (1984). Pembaharuan yang lain ialah kemampuan untuk bekerja pada protected mode/mode perlindungan – mode kerja baru dengan “24 bit virtual address mode”/mode pengalamatan virtual 24 bit, yang menegaskan arah perpindahan dari DOS ke Windows dan multitasking. Tetapi anda tidak dapat berganti dari protected kembali ke real mode / mode riil tanpa mere-boot PC, dan sistem operasi yang menggunakan hal ini hanyalah OS/2 saat itu.

GENERASI 3 Processor 80386
Setelah generasi 80286 dilanjutkan dengan seri 80386 yang merupakan mesin 32 bit intel pertama.

GENERASI 4 Processor 80486
Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan seri 80486 yang mengusung teknologi cache yang lebih tinggi, kemudian muncul seri pentium dan baru2 ini baru diluncurkan seri core-i yang sudah mengusung teknologi yang canggih.

GENERASI 5 Pentium
Kemudian Intel berencana untuk mebuat merek untuk processornya itu. Namun nama 80586 tidak diperbolehkan untuk menjadi merek dagang. Oleh karena microprocessor ini generasi kelima, maka lahirlah pentium yang dari bahasa Yunani penta= lima dan lahirlah Pentium 1 dengan microarsitektur P5 pada tanggal 22 Maret 1993.

Norton Internet Security 2011 merupakan software yang dapat digunakan untuk meminimalkan resiko ketika pengguna komputer sering melakukan banyak aktivitas yang berhubungan dengan internet. Fitur tersebut meliputi Insight Protection, Anvirus, Antispyware, Sonar Protection, Smart Firewall, Intrution Detection, Email Protection, Identity Safe, Browser Protection, Safe Surfing, Download Intelligence.


Nah, karena ancaman yang kian beragam, tidak heran jika perusahaan sekaliber Symantec berusaha untuk terus mengembangkan aplikasinya. Kalau beberapa bulan yang lalu pernah dirilis versi betanya, saat ini pihak Symantec tengah mempersiapkan kelahiran versi teranyar aplikasi keamanannya yang diberi nama Norton Internet Security 2011.


Sekilas, produk ini terlihat tidak banyak membawa perubahan dari seri-seri sebelumnya. Perubahan yang dilakukan Symantec terlihat hanya pada bagian antarmuka yang dimilikinya. Namun jika dilihat lebih dalam, di versi ini ada beberapa inovasi baru yang disematkan. Beberapa di antaranya :


Control Console
Pada bagian ini pengguna dapat melakukan berbagai hal seperti backup data secara online di server Symantec, melihat daftar situs yang bermasalah, hingga menentukan situs mana saja yang boleh dikunjungi oleh pengguna.


Fitur terakhir yang disebutkan, diklaim akan sangat bermanfaat sekali bagi keluarga. Pasalnya, orang tua dapat menentukan sendiri situs apa saja yang boleh dikunjungi oleh anggota keluarganya.


Scanning
Proses scanning komputer pada aplikasi ini tidak berbeda dengan seri terdahulu. Pengguna dapat melakukan proses pemindaian terhadap program jahat dalam beberapa modus seperti quick scanning atau full scanning.


Namun yang menarik adalah, produk ini dapat memeriksa akun Facebook yang kita miliki. Misalnya, pengguna mendapatkan undangan palsu atau ada yang memberikan link khusus melalui wall.


Nanti aplikasi ini akan memeriksa ke mana arah link tersebut akan merujuk dan menganalisa berbahaya atau tidaknya untuk dikunjungi. Hal ini dilakukan Symantec karena Facebook dianggap mulai digunakan sebagai sasaran empuk untuk aksi phising alias pencurian informasi.
